Xiegu-Fest & Working USA With 1 Watt

Note: in one of the QSOs I incorrectly give the call sign as K1RA. The correct call was K1RR, Rich in New Hampshire. It was logged correctly. The perils of writing on a note pad in the dark.

An overnight stay at the Packing Shed West Mersea with my friend Michael GM5AUG who was down this way visiting his family for a couple of weeks and wanted to operate from the shed as he had not been there before.

We were using one of the club calls for Colchester Radio Amateurs and using three different rigs all made by Xiegu with 20w maximum. 20m was open all night into North America and later on Michael worked into New Zealand for the first time also on 20m. The highlight for me was working into the USA on 40m SSB using only 1w.
