A boat covers 24 miles upstream and 36 miles downstream in 6 hours while it covers 36 miles upstream and 24 miles downstream in 6.5 hours. Find the speed of the stream.

1. A boat travels 30 km up a river in the same time it takes to travel 50 km down the same river. If the current of the water is 5km/h, what is the speed of the boat in still water?

2. Joe traveled against the wind in a small plane for 3.4 hours. The return trip with the wind took 3 hours. Find the speed of the wind if the speed of the plane in still air is 160 mph.

3. A boat takes 9.5 hours for traveling downstream from point A to point B and coming back to a point C midway between A and B. If the speed of the current is 4 kph and the speed of the boat in still water is 14 kph, what is the distance between A and B?

4. A man can row 18 km/hr in still water. It takes him thrice as long as to row up as to row down the river. Find the rate of the current in km/hr.

5. At 6:48 am a cyclist started from point A at a speed of 12 km/hr. At exactly 8:00 am, a car followed him at a speed of 84 km/h. At what time does the car catch up with the cyclist?

6. A BMW leaves a location driving 70 m/h. A ford Mustang leaves the same location 1 hour later driving 90m/h. How long will it take the Ford Mustang to catch up with the BMW?

7. A boat covers 24 miles upstream and 36 miles downstream in 6 hours while it covers 36 miles upstream and 24 miles downstream in 6.5 hours. Find the speed of the stream.
