In this video, I take on a mystery piece of fossil bone and spend over six hours carefully preparing it to reveal what’s hidden inside. Using a pneumatic air scribe and delicate micro air abrasion techniques, I slowly remove the surrounding rock without damaging the fossil within.

Fossil preparation is a test of patience and precision—every pass of the tool has to be controlled, as one wrong move can leave a permanent mark on the specimen. This video captures the full process, from the initial rough matrix removal with the air scribe to the fine detail work with micro air abrasion.
