The Bondo Society is the only secret society led and run by women in Sierra Leone. During our time in the country, we had the chance to talk to some Sowei women, leaders of this society, to understand what triggers them to this practice, and how they feel about the transition that is taking place in their culture.

This initiative from Commit and Act is called "My body, my right". A project which prevents girls to go through Female Genital Mutilation, a traditional and extended practice in the country, that takes place inside the Bondo Society.
