Fibroids are hormone-dependent tumors of the Uterus. In simple words, Fibroids are Overgrown uterine muscle tissue that is mostly non-cancerous.

About 40-60% of women can have fibroids in their lifetime.

Only 10% to 30% of women with uterine fibroids develop complications during pregnancy.

The symptoms and complications vary at different stages of pregnancy. During early pregnancy, miscarriage and bleeding are the problems. In late pregnancy, the fibroids lead to Preterm delivery, and sometimes excess bleeding after delivery.

Pain is a common symptom of fibroids. Pain management is done by painkillers, bed rest, and good hydration.

Surgery is done for fibroids before women become pregnant, only if there is difficulty to conceive or if there are repeated miscarriages.

So, not all Uterine fibroids are harmful during pregnancy.
