LEBOKU 2021: 18 YEAR-OLD NURSING STUDENT, HYACINTHA IKPI WINS MISS LEBOKU 2021.
18 year-old Hyacintha Ikpi and Ettah Matthew have emerged winners of the 2021 Miss And Mr Leboku pageant.
The duo were crowned King and Queen early Tuesday at the Ubi Ujong Inah Conference Centre, Ugep, after a rigorous breathtaking stage performance.
Hyacintha, a 200 level student of the department of Pure Nursing at the Cross River State College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences, edged out 4 other contestants to clinch the coveted crown.
Speaking to our correspondent, the newly crowned queen expressed delight that her dreams of becoming the cultural ambassador finally came through. She said the crown will present her the opportunity to create a positive impact in the community; adding that she will not let down the confidence reposed on her.
Also, Ettah Matthew, a 200 level student of the department of Radiography in the University of Calabar emerged winner for the male category, edging out six other contestants.
Mr. Ebri hails from Kekomkolo, in Ijom council ward while Miss Hyacintha hails from Ugom in Ijiman council ward all in Ugep, Yakurr local government.
The duo will be officially unveiled at a later date, where they will be presented with car gifts sponsored by the Cross River State Government.
They are expected to draw up pet-projects to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ugep people, and act as cultural ambassadors of the Cross River State tourism brand.
In other categories, Efah Livinus emerged 1st runner up, Yanenwen Nelson emerged as 2nd runner up; while in the male category, Gabby Ofem emerged as 1st runner up with Sam Emmanuel clinching the 2nd runner up.
The Mr and Miss Leboku pageant is part of activities marking the one-month long Leboku New Yam Festival, which is the celebration of the harvest of new yams. The festival is an annual event that holds at Ugep in Yakurr Local government area of Cross River State.
