With over exploitation of resources rampant in this day and age, the residents of Mawsadang village in Mawphlang Block, East Khasi Hills District has taken the initiative to preserve fish species abundant in their village. This comes after the exploitative fishing practices that the residents have witnessed in their village, more specifically in the river which the locals call Ummawpa, which has reduced the population of the fish species. The initiative has been a collaborative effort between the residents and the office of CLLMP, following the proposal submission of the Mawsadang community members.
