A 3D virtual world based on the 1968 ground breaking animated cartoon, 'Yellow Submarine'.

Once upon a time...

When Pete Clements first started his Van Gogh in Arles project, in emerging online 3D communities, he also conceived of the idea to create a 3D representation of "Yellow Submarine" - an animated musical fantasy comedy movie, inspired by the music of the Beatles. Indeed, Pete built a "Yellow Submarine" setting and created actual character models using computer software that was ground breaking for it's time, and could be likened to today's 3D printers.

Or Maybe Twice...

In late 2014, in a far off virtual world known as Littlefield Grid of OpenSimulator, Pete suggested to Leslie, that together, they create the representation of "Yellow Submarine". So began the 8 months of creating scenes from the movie on their land known as "Pepperland"

There was an unearthly paradise called.....

Pete imported his character models and built afresh the Pyramid, Viaduct, Pier Building and Mountains (from where the Meanies stage their attack on Pepperland), textured from his original "Yellow Submarine" creation of ten years earlier. Leslie's first creations were the "Hey Bulldog" Piano, Chief Blue Meanie Sedan and Meanie guns. She then turned her attention to bigger projects such as that which has become known as The Green Room of Staircases, where Captain Fred first meets Ringo, Pier Building Entrance Hallway and Corridor, where Fred and Ringo find the other Beatles, the Bandstand and of course, the beautifully detailed Submarine Interior.

Pete was continually frustrated by the quality of his original character models and decided to create them himself...

One by one, each character you see in this movie was meticulously crafted by Pete, using basic virtual world building materials. Pepperland became populated with armies of Meanies, buildings came alive with the addition of Pete's Captain Fred and the Beatles. Scenes unthought of at the beginning, such as the Mayor's String Quartet and Nowhere Man - Jeremy Hillary Boob's encounters with the Beatles and Meanies, are beautifully created by Pete.

This movie is a document of two virtual world creators' imagination, creativity and skill in a generously provided 3D virtual world environment.
