A new fence, installed by a nonprofit organization, was installed in San Francisco's Tenderloin on Wednesday. Its purpose is to deter open drug dealing that has overwhelmed the area in recent years, even by Tenderloin standards. Some neighbors say the fence at McAllister and Leavenworth streets is a step in the right direction. The nonprofit says they received a permit to install the fence, but city officials are not commenting.
