9 Times The Golden Girls Brought the LGBTQ Pride

The Golden Girls consistently addressed complex social issues throughout their 7 season, particularly LGBTQ. These scenes premiered at a time where there was little to no visibility in mainstream culture of positive queer relationships, romantically familial and friendships. From Clayton Hollingsworth, to Dorothy’s childhood friend Jean, to Doug and Sophia’s son Phil, representation made it so millions of viewers, in their homes, saw these empowered and important people.
