After uploading the original video on my main channel I couldn't help but think that the video was to long. So I decided to cut it down by a further 8 minutes and 58 seconds and upload it as a "Speedy" version! Hopefully it is now easier and more enjoyable to watch and gets out to more people, so we can raise more money for TeamSeas!

This weeks video is a very important one and one close to my heart, living within one mile of the sea it has always played a huge role in my life. Did you know that at least 8M tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year? Our seas are being consumed by this destructive substance. I couldn't believe the amount of rubbish I found on my half mile beach clean. Because of this myself and many other talented creators have teamed up with #TeamSeas, we are on a mission to remove 30 million pounds (13,607,771.1kg) of rubbish from the seas. Head to https://teamseas.org/ to donate what ever you can to help save this planet. For every $1 you donate 1 pound (0.45kg) of rubbish will be pulled from the ocean. If we work together we can make a real difference. Our deadline to raise $30,000,000 is January 1st, 2022 at midnight pacific, so what are you waiting for! I am ready to make my donation as soon as the website goes live.

I know some people will comment about my use of epoxy in this video. However, all of the epoxy resin offcuts and shavings have been disposed of in such a way so they cannot make it into our oceans. I have offset the weight of epoxy used by more than double from plastics recovered during the beach clean collection. This has been correctly recycled and I will be making my donation to #TeamSeas. This video is intended to promote this fundraising effort and inspire us all to play our part, so please share to as many people as possible and donate if you can to this great cause.

The piece itself is up for interpretation. The way I see it is, The natural beauty of the whales tail breaking through the plastic covered ocean surface symbolises that there is hope for the seas yet, although the nets have a tight grip around the tail mother nature and the natural order will prevail.

Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.
