How to Stop Proteinuria in a Chronic Kidney Disease Patient ?

The kidneys are best known for making urine and proteinuria occurs when the kidneys allows proteins to appear in the urine and exit the body. Together the 2 kidneys receive a quarter of the blood that is pumped from the heart every minute which fuels the organ to remove waste products in the blood every day. When protein leaks from the blood into the urine, there is less protein in the blood available for our bodies to work normally. This is definitely a warning sign that something is wrong with the kidney’s.

Amongst people suffering from kidney failure , the 2 most common health conditions that associates with it are diabetes an high blood pressure.

There are usually 2 types of proteinuria :-

1) Transient ( most common form of proteinuria)

2) Persistent ( Occurs to people with underlying kidney disease)

Proteinuria at a low level usually causes no signs or symptoms. Some patients, however, experience edema (swelling) in the face, legs, or belly if they lose a lot of protein in their urine.

You can’t prevent proteinuria. However, you can control it. Many conditions that cause proteinuria are treatable with medications and lifestyle changes.

The treatment for proteinuria often consists of changes in your diet, blood pressure medication, limiting your salt intake, eating more fiber and quit smoking and drinking.
