The flagship Grand Banks 85 is a dynamic tour de force. The focus on high-speed efficiency and cruising comfort is laser focussed, so much so that at 20 knots with the standard IPS1350 1,000hp engines it will cover 1,000nm. Astonishing.

The determination to keep the boat’s weight in check makes all the difference. By employing carbon fibre and other lightweight materials throughout the build, the Grand Banks is significantly lighter than its mainstream rivals. It is, for example, around 20 tonnes lighter than the Ferretti 860.

MAN 1,300hp V8s on shafts are an option but with a top speed of 30 knots and those amazing fuel burn figures, it would appear that IPS is the way to go.
