In the summer of 2021, I participated in a video contest for Coaster Con 43. The project I developed was a documentary type story telling my experiences and enjoyment of my first ever Coaster Con, Coaster Con 42. The project finished 2nd in a field of 4 videos this year and it gave me a glimpse into my development and understanding for digital storytelling. But what you might not know is that I originally meant for this project to be 5 minutes long. When I was working on this project, I had based it on the video contest rules from Coaster Con 42 and was not instructed on changes to that criteria. As it turned out, the contest I entered changed its length criteria from 5 minutes to 4 minutes. Thankfully, I had enough time to crop my 5 minute project to 4 minutes with time to spare. However, I have not shown the original 5 minute cut to anyone outside of my family since then. Today that all changes. This is the 5 minute cut of my "The Odyssey of Coaster Con 42."
