4. Paperbase as a Tool for Photo Historical Research

Paperbase, the interactive digital database to the Lens Media Lab collection of historical photographic papers, is a powerful tool for examining both the wide range of papers available to photographers during the twentieth century and the uses of these papers by individual photographers. This presentation will offer a few case studies that demonstrate how Paperbase can be used by scholars interested in the history and practice of twentieth-century photography. By walking through some of the research capabilities of Paperbase, this talk aims to prompt audience members to consider how this new tool can be employed in their own scholarship.
