ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — PBS is postponing the third season of the celebrity genealogy show 'Finding Your Roots' after they learned that the show's producers bowed under pressure from Ben Affleck who requested details about his ancestor's slave ownership be withheld from an episode he was featured in.

When the show aired in October, not a word was mentioned about Affleck's great-great-great grandpa Benjamin Cole's dirty little secret. And it would have remained a secret too, if it weren't for the hacked Sony documents released by Wikileaks.

PBS said the producers violated network standards by allowing Affleck to have "improper influence."

"I didn't want any television show about my family to include a guy who owned slaves. I was embarrassed," Affleck wrote on Facebook. "The very thought of it left a bad taste in my mouth."

The show's host Henry Louis Gates Jr. knew censoring the show might be a problem. "Once we open the door to censorship, we lose control of the brand," he wrote to a Sony executive in an email.

PBS is now suspending season three until they add a fact checker to the show's staff.

Affleck also said in his Facebook apology that he regrets his initial thoughts that the issue of slavery not be included in the story.
