No Participation by Dogra Community in BJP's August 5 Celebration; Silent Protest Observed in Jammu

Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organizing celebrations to mark the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, a noticeable absence of local Dogra participation was witnessed in key areas like Kachi Chawani and City Chowk.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that no members from the Dogra community came forward to take sweets, distribute laddoos, or join in the dancing and festivities organized by BJP workers. The empty response has been seen as a symbolic protest against the central government's decision on August 5, 2019, which stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and statehood.

Locals expressed that the wounds of the 2019 decision are still fresh, and many in Jammu continue to feel sidelined. "Kashmir ka gila-shikwa duur ho gaya hoga, lekin Jammu ka dard ab bhi zinda hai," said a local resident.

Many are now demanding the restoration of full statehood and the reinstatement of Article 370, highlighting the growing sentiment that the Dogra identity and Jammu's autonomy must be respected and restored.
