This is the second of two interviews with Rob Tryon, manager of EffingOyster. Rob has been growing oysters since approximately 2003 on BC's west coast, in Barkley Sound an hour by boat from Port Alberni. He's well-versed in the use of Twitter as a way to grow his local food business (the topic of our first conversation in March 2013), and on the Board of the BC Shellfish Growers Association. In this short video he talks about oysters and how and why one kind of oyster can have such different flavours, why they are a boon to our local food economy, and the BC Shellfish Festival. Hailed as the "west coast's biggest shellfish festival" it takes place in Comox mid-July every year as a celebration of both the flavours and the people who make this an important part of the Island's local food economy and culture.
