Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s iconic Poes Garden residence is facing possible auction over unpaid income tax and wealth tax arrears amounting to nearly ₹13.7 crore, including interest. The Income Tax Department informed the Madras High Court about the outstanding dues.

Following Jayalalithaa’s death in 2016, her niece Deepa Jayakumar and nephew Deepak Jayakumar were declared her legal heirs and were served tax notices by the department.
