August 23rd marks the commemoration of William Wallace, one of Scotland´s greatest national heroes, who was executed on that date in 1305.

In the late 13th century Wallace was the leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the initial years of the long and finally successful struggle for Scottish independence.

His character, strength and legend have made him a source of inspiration for many political and social struggles throughout the centuries since.

In his day physical force was how political discourses were settled, thankfully we have more democratic methods at our disposal. His inspiration lives on.

You can visit several of the locations associated with his legend locally in the Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency. Some great scenery and views as well as inspiring history.
