Serious Dumpling at San Pedro Square

Honestly, I think the better question is WHY NOT?! I saw this place advertised on a friend of mine's instagram story... and I immediately knew I had to come check this place out for myself... and, trust me... pictures and video clips just don't do this place any justice.

Located in the midst of San Pedro Square, Serious Dumpling is a relatively small yet mighty, hustlin' and bustlin', dumpling establishment whose reputation precedes them... equipped with both indoor and outdoor seating, this place was full to the brim with patrons the night I strolled in--which seemed to be a regular occurrence for a Saturday night...

As I entered, I began to sign my name on the waiting list affixed to the interior door, but to my surprise, I was immediately asked if I minded a seat at the bar.... And was seated right away. Amazing!

First thing's first... check-in on YELP! You can get a free cucumber salad!! Secondly, as a Serious Dumpling first timer, I had to try as much as I could. (No regrets) So I went with the creamy garlic noodles plus shrimp, Charsiu bao, an original giant soup XLB, pork & shrimp shumai topped off with a lychee mocktail...

Every single item that I ordered, arrived hot, delicious and full of flavor. Honestly? If I hadn't gotten full, I would have continued ordering my way through the menu with zero regrets.

All in all, aside from the uncomfortable stool seating at the bar, and the sad filling-to-bun ratio in the bao, I had an excellent experience at Serious Dumpling and the waiter, Anthony was a friggin rockstar.

This place is seriously amazing! Friend recommended it and I'm so glad I came here. Located by San Pedro market where there's plenty of parking and a parking lot right across. The place looks cute and cozy! Greeted right away by their staff and was very kind.

From start to finish, the food was very delicious. Even the garlic string beans was addicting! Each dish was a star in its own. The shrimp and pork dumpling was so just right temperature and had the right consistency and flavor! Can't go wrong with XLB and it definitely did not disappoint. As I mention the garlic string beans were so addicting. I could not stop eating it. Can definitely taste the garlic but not too overpowering. And of course their anniversary special which is the monster noodle and it was beyond good!! The curry flavor was spot on and it was spicy but too bad! The meat itself was very good but i will say it was a little difficult getting the meat off the bone. I had to ask for a fork and a knife to slice it off. But all dishes I ordered was totally worth coming back for!



This place was absolutely delicious, 100% percent worth your patronage and time. Our arrival was perfect as it was slow during our first few minutes there; within 20 minutes the place was nearly filled to capacity. The ambiance is very nice kind of a fusion between traditional, casual, and modern. The service was excellent, great recommendations based on what we wanted to eat.

The garlic noodles were the star of the show; didn't matter what additional toppings were added; they were so savory! Our family couldn't have been happier with the selection, freshly made to order buns of all kinds! Please make this a stop while your in historic San Jose!
