Natalia, Lacey and Rachel did a self-guided tour of the Kokopelli trail over 4 days. That means our tour guide met us at each station and carried our tents, sleeping gear, and water to each location. We learned after White Rim that we should try to enjoy this one. But the slower you go, it still doesn't change how challenging it can be. The week we did this, it was already 100+ degrees and smoldering. It is the desert after all. Day 1 takes you through the popular Mack Loma trails followed by a long stretch of hike-a-bike then gravel riding close to the I70. You have an option to do the Kokopelli or Rabbit Valley Trail 2. We recommend the latter. It's got dirt roads with punchy climbs that increasingly get more technical. Hit a giant sand patch before dumping into Western Rim, another must-do detour. We popped out at a short cut back on Kokopelli, then more dirt road until you head up a very steep climb to the Bitter Creek Campground. Overall, the riding was beautiful and saw many lizards on the trail.

No stops for water, so make sure you bring enough and start earlier than we did if doing it in later spring. Rachel ran out of water and had a mechanical 2 miles in. Lacey forgot her inhaler and thought she had a flat. Natalia might still be out there looking forward the right way to go.
