There is a minecraft utility mod I am writing, and here's me showing off one of its features: ElytraBot. There are already mods which can do this out there, which is why it took me so long. I first began writing this before anyone else, but I stopped due to a bug I couldn't fix, and soon enough someone else had done it before me because I had already announced it and thereby made the idea public. This caused me to not have enough motivation to continue for quite a while, but recently I got some more motivation and finished it. There are still some quirks to work out, but it's pretty good so far, and afaik better than the other ones.

Edit: So it seems Baritone recently implemented an Elytra mode! It's quite smart of them to use larger chunks for navigation and then do the actual elytra movement using a mode! That makes it much faster than mine of course, but keep in mind that at the time I was making this, it really was much faster than existing solutions.
