Emma Raducanu’s return to tennis has hit another roadblock. The 2021 US Open champion pulled out of her United Cup singles match against Naomi Osaka due to a lingering foot injury - and Team GB captain Tim Henman says her status remains uncertain.

Raducanu, who has struggled with injuries since her breakthrough, was hoping to build momentum ahead of the Australian Open, but her participation in Great Britain’s next tie against Greece is still undecided.
💬 “She’s very close… it’s still up in the air,” Henman told reporters in Perth.

In her place, Katie Swan stepped in, but Osaka claimed the win to level the tie. However, Olivia Nicholls and Neal Skupski clinched the deciding mixed doubles in dramatic fashion, giving Team GB a 2-1 victory over Japan in their United Cup opener.

Meanwhile, Naomi Osaka reflected on her return to team tennis and her hopes for 2026 after battling illness last season.
