The Altschuler Summer Music Institute
For it’s inaugural summer, The Altschuler Summer Music Institute (https://altschulersummermusicinstitut...) will be hosted at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “G. Lettimi” (http://www.istitutolettimi.it) in historic Rimini, Italy from July 20th-30th, 2019. It is open to violinist, violists, cellists, double bassists, and pianists of all levels and ages.
The Institute is focused on the students, their betterment and creating musical opportunities for all of the students and faculty. It is a concentrated and vibrant program with a fun and relaxed atmosphere, intended to stimulate and act as a catalyst for their progress throughout the year.
The chamber orchestra is open to all ages and levels. Students will also participate in smaller chamber ensembles of varying sizes. Faculty will both coach and perform in the ensembles. There will be several performances in the conservatory, open to the public.
Violinist, Emil Altschuler, will lead rehearsals and performances of the string chamber orchestra as concertmaster, including music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Tchaikovsky among others.
We are also very excited to announce that Sherry Kloss, renowned pupil and assistant to the legendary violinist, Jascha Heifetz, will be teaching her master’s legacy including scales, unaccompanied Bach, sonatas, concerti, show pieces and Heifetz transcriptions.
Alessandro Maffei, the director of the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “G. Lettimi” has been gracious and generous to welcome the Institute into his school and share the spaces with us. Recently renovated, it offers 18 classrooms, almost all with baby grand pianos, an auditorium with 88 seats, a large room that can seat 60-70 people and a beautiful 300-seat theater.
