Winter and spring are a constant battle of hours in the day and what needs to get done on the farm. Not mentioned is all the other work that goes into dahlia tuber sales… and then of course, starting all the summer flowers in spring as well. Oh and dahlia cuttings. The list stretches out 😉. So once November hits, I take a deep breath and I don’t think I let it out until May, when things calm down slightly.

Over here, two big jobs are basically done: dahlia digging and washing, but that means we’re onto dahlia dividing… which is the time I catch up on podcasts (if you have some favs, let me know!). December is also when I finish planting all the bulbs and peonies…. And the hardy annuals go out into the tunnel to be babied until spring.

Is it worth it all? Yep. I’d say so. The preparation for the next season through the cold months all comes to fruition in a beautiful spring and summer and every year, I’m glad I did it all.

And then in my breaks… well, I’m planning out new gardens and projects… because to me, the more flowers the better!
