Cetatea Coltesti (Cetatea Trascaului) - Fortress Coltesti Alba, Romania

Cetatea Coltesti (Cetatea Trascaului) a fost construită în jurul anilor 1296 de vice-voievodul Thorotzkay din Trascău, ca cetate locuibilă și de refugiu.
A fost ridicată cu premeditare pe vârful abrupt al unei klippe calcaroase, în urma invaziei tătare (mongole) din anul 1241, când au fost produse pagube însemnate localităților Trascău și Sângiorgiu.
În anul 1470 cetatea a fost confiscată de regele Matia Corvin și dată voievodului Transilvaniei. În 1510 a revenit nobililor de Trascău (Thorotzkay), iar în 1514 a fost devastată de țăranii conduși de Gheorghe Doja.
Opunându-se anexării Transilvaniei de către Casa de Austria (Habsburg) în cadrul revoltei Curuților, familia nobililor de Trascău (Thorotzkay) a fost eliminată de pe scena istoriei, odată cu cetatea lor, distrusă în anul 1703 de către trupele imperiale austriece conduse de generalul Tiege (Lobonți).
Azi se mai păstrează o bună parte din zidurile incintei și cele două turnuri laterale.

Coltesti Fortress (Trascaului Fortress) was built around 1296 by the vice-voivode Thorotzkay from Trascău, as a habitable and refuge fortress.
It was deliberately built on the steep top of a limestone cliff, following the Tartar (Mongol) invasion in 1241, when significant damage was caused to the localities of Trascău and Sângiorgiu.
In 1470 the fortress was confiscated by King Matthias Corvinus and given to the voivode of Transylvania. In 1510 it returned to the nobles of Trascău (Thorotzkay), and in 1514 it was devastated by the peasants led by Gheorghe Doja.
Opposing the annexation of Transylvania by the House of Austria (Habsburg) in the Curut revolt, the family of the nobles of Trascau (Thorotzkay) was removed from the stage of history, along with their fortress, destroyed in 1703 by Austrian imperial troops led by General Tiege (Wolves).
Today, a large part of the enclosure walls and the two side towers are still preserved.
