Recognizing the devastating impact of illegal sand mining on India’s rivers, Veditum India Foundation (https://veditum.org) launched India Sand Watch (https://sandwatch.envmonitoring.in) in 2023 – an environmental accountability project on the issue of river sand mining in India.

​Through India Sand Watch, we are also collectively building & sharing knowledge on sediments, encouraging active citizenship, and offering new imaginations for environmental accountability.

​At this 2 year milestone, we’re taking the opportunity to look back and review the work being done by our team, and the progress made with our partners and collaborators Wildlife Conservation Trust, Berkeley School of Information and Agami and share what we have in store for the future.

We've been developing some new tools and making efforts to increase accessibility of our open-data platform, and made progress with our on-ground and remote sensing work that we will be sharing on the day!
