For our Spring 2018 collection we were inspired by Joan of Arc and her heroic role during the Hundred Years’ War.

Joan of Arc was a simple girl from the farmlands of occupied France. The English occupation threatened their lives and Joan rose up to fight for their independence. Her courage led her to meet with the Dauphin and she became the captain of his forces and led them to victory crowning him as King of France. She was betrayed, tried as a heretic and burned at the stake. Her courage and integrity were finally publicly recognized centuries later and she was sainted by the Roman Catholic Church.

We made a strong connection of Joan’s life to the modern day woman. We want this high contemporary collection to impart a modern, wearable armor for women as they fight for what is right during these dark times. The materials and designs are representations of the armor she wore, her rise to power, her trial and death and her immortality.

This collection also parallels Joan’s many struggles with those of our own. We have chosen to use faux leather in this collection to show that everyday choices affect us all.

As we move forward with our lives and communities, we must make a conscious effort to do good. We have the power of choice and we must choose to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. We must fight for what is fair. We must fight for good.
