Parts of a Press Conference at the Iranian Embassy in Vienna on 2014 03 15 with Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli aided by personnel from the Embassy. The press conference was held in Farsi and translated to English.

Minister Rahmani was on visit in Vienna attending the 57th Session on the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, organized by the UNODC, which is headquartered at the UN City in Vienna, Austria.

During this press conference the minister explained the counter-narcotics policy of his country and answered some questions by present journalists. He stated that fighting drug smuggling has cost the lives of upwards of 3700 law enforcement personnel, 15 during the past 1-2 months alone; he also stated that the drug production (in Afghanistan) had increased from 200 Tons/year to 5000 Tons/year since the country is under US occupation, and that the US occupation does not cooperate at all in his country's attempts at interdiction of narcotics smuggling.
