Malcolm X would have turned 100 this year. His voice for dignity, justice, and human rights still resonates powerfully today.

In this episode of CURATING CULTURE, we visit the Shabazz Center in Harlem, built inside the historic Audubon Ballroom — once a place of celebration, and later the site of Malcolm X’s assassination in 1965. Thanks to the determination of Dr. Betty Shabazz and community donors, the building was saved from demolition and transformed into a living memorial.

Today, the Shabazz Center continues to honor the legacy of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz through education, dialogue, and cultural programs. We also highlight a special event hosted by the Columbia Center, connecting Harlem’s history with its future.
