In this video, we visited the 101 Art Gallery to view the work of a talented local artist, Brian Ashing. In his first debut art exhibition, Brian presents “Prelude".

Brian Ashing is a self-taught visual artist from Trinidad & Tobago (b.1994) working primarily in watercolours and oils. Ashing has a realistic or semi-realistic approach to his paintings and explores a range of subjects (people, landscapes and wildlife) via the use of representational art. Ashing attained a BSc in Environmental and Natural Resource Management (1st class honours) from the UWI in 2020 and exhibited and sold work throughout the pursuit of his degree. His work has been exhibited in several group shows and consignment collections in Trinidad (Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Horizons Art Gallery). In 2021, he co-organized and curated “Art at Veni Mangé”, a group exhibition held at the iconic Ariapita Ave restaurant. His first solo exhibition, “Prelude” (101 Art Gallery) essentially serves as his debut into the Trinbagonian artistic landscape. Ashing’s work is held in several private collections within Trinidad & Tobago and the USA. He currently creates full-time from his home in Piarco, Trinidad.
