The School of Media Studies, Department of Visual Communication & Film Technology at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an engaging and informative masterclass titled Script to Screen: A Masterclass on 6th December 2024. The event, held from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Preview Theatre, PG Dental Block, featured renowned filmmaker Mr. K.G. Balasubramani, director of the acclaimed movie Black. The session offered an in-depth exploration of the filmmaking process, covering scriptwriting, screen adaptation, pitching to producers, managing a film set, and directing short films.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. V. Prabakaran, Convenor and Head of Media Studies, with Ms. P. Yuvarani, Co-convenor and Programme Coordinator (Visual Communication), and Dr. Shanmuganathan, Co-convenor and Programme Coordinator (Film Technology). Students gained valuable insights into decoding films, understanding the director’s role as the "captain of the ship," and mastering the management of film projects. This interactive session inspired aspiring filmmakers to approach visual storytelling with creativity and professionalism, significantly enhancing their technical and conceptual knowledge in cinema.
