With the Crucible upon us, I decided to see how well Venompool works against the 7.3.6 Kang that you'll face in there. Obviously the values are changed a bit in the Crucible so that Kang becomes a bit beefier than he is here, but I think this video shows that Venompool is perfectly capable of beating him.

The only thing to look out for is that Venompool has a pretty sizeable power gain on his SP2 if you don't let the whole animation run its course. That can be a good thing, but if you're trying to lose power, it can also be a very annoying thing (especially since he can't be power drained either).
