I actually took Penny's Artificial Intelligence course https://www.udemy.com/share/1001ZsBUE... last year, but had a great deal of difficulty wrapping my brain around the last section, GOAP or Goal Oriented Action Planning...
Each of these characters is gathering and creating resources based on a system where possible tasks are gathered to find the most logical actions to produce a resolution.
The yellow character is gathering wheat from the farm in the corner. He then takes it to the building on the right where it is converted to flour.
The purple character is getting flour from that building and taking it to the building on the left where he is baking it into bread. Once he has baked 5 breads, he takes it to the building at the top and sells it. If the baker is out of flour, he can't bake more bread.
The system works by checking the world conditions and inventory each turn to determine what is possible. If the right conditions are met, the best course of action is taken. If no conditions are met, the actor stands idle.
