I had just missed a MARC train after flying back
from Manchester, NH, and I bagged a last-minute Amtrak for $5.

Similar to Southwest Airlines, the Northeast Regional
has open seating in Coach, versus Business Class
where you may select a seat for free after booking. As of May 2024, each passenger is allowed 1 personal item
to fit under the seat, and 2 carry-on items to place in the racks. It’s $20 for each additional carry-on—
no more than 2 per passenger.

BWI Rail Station has signage with
the next trains, as well as a head house
offering restrooms, ticketing, sundries and a lobby. Trains north to Baltimore are on Track 1 (airport side), while
trains south to DC are on Track 3 across the overhead catwalk. Railfans can delight in the occasional
train speeding past on Track 2. Electrified north of DC, the Northeast Regional
can reach speeds up to 125 mph (200 km/h) ,
versus the Acela at 150 mph (240 km/h).
