John McCormack Gems (5): Il mio tesoro : Don Giovanni (Mozart) (New 2020 restoration)

This was a 78 rpm recording made by John McCormack on 9th May 1916, 9 years before the use of microphones and electrical equipment in recording studios.
This is considered to be one of the very finest recordings (if not the very finest recording) of this aria because of the perfect melodic flow of McCormacks voice and the amazing breath control demonstrated in long phases sung in one breath for which most singers require two or three breaths thus detracting from the smooth flow of the music.
McCormack regarded this as his finest perfomance.
This is the original studio recording , newly restored to give a fuller more spacious sound and, just for effect, and to give a concert atmosphere I have also added applause.The libretto of the aria is as follows
