Stereo Ferment presents the latest instalment of their guest mix series “Cellar Sessions”, where DJ friends curate unique moods alongside classic SF vibes (psych-tropical; dub-boogie-disco, and afrocentric inspired grooves). The result is a bubbling fermentation of tasty tunes for curious ears.

Dacou is a Toronto based DJ, producer, and collector of rare grooves, specializing in the often lost and obscure hits sourced in the Maghreb region of North Africa. His musical journey began as a pianist and percussionist, with a special concentration in African and South Asian percussive instrumentation. Following a stint at the University of Toronto’s music program with a focus in Ethnomusicology, Dacou delivers an eclectic sonic selection featuring a wide range of tones and foreign melodies whilst awaiting his debut release.

“When I was invited by label boss Oreku to drop a mix for the Cellar Sessions series, I had just landed upon a goldmine of disco/folk heavy 80s and 90s cassettes and had been engulfed in a wave of retro nostalgia. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to translate those vibes into a mix for Stereo Ferment featuring a variety of dance floor worthy vintage cuts from around the globe - a fermentation of cross-cultural sounds.”
