A new mobile treatment centre (MTC) at the Glenfield Hospital is providing extra capacity to cut chemotherapy and immunotherapy waiting times for patients with cancer.

The facility provides an alternative site for patients to receive treatment, in addition to our chemotherapy suite at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between UHL and Pharmaxo Healthcare, a specialist provider of nurse-led treatments in the community.

Chris Green, who has worked as a porter at the Leicester General Hospital for almost 30 years, was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. He says that receiving his immunotherapy treatment at the MTC has been ‘convenient, quick and easy’.
