Exempted Goods in GST refer to goods that are completely exempt from the Goods and Services Tax under Indian law. These goods do not attract GST, and businesses dealing in exempted goods cannot claim input tax credit (ITC) on them. The exemption is provided to essential and commonly used items such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals, bread, unprocessed fish, fresh milk, jaggery, agricultural products, raw silk, plastic bangles, and printed books. The exemption aims to make these essential goods affordable to the public and ease compliance for small businesses dealing exclusively in such items.

For recording Exempted Goods in Tally Prime, you need to follow these steps:

Create a Stock Item under Inventory Info → Stock Item → Create.

Enter the item details and under GST Details, set "GST Applicable" to "Not Applicable" or select the exempted tax rate.

While making Purchase or Sales Entry (F9 for Purchase or F8 for Sales), select the exempted stock item.

Do not apply any GST ledger in these entries as exempt items attract no GST, hence no tax calculation or tax ledger entry is required.

Save the voucher. This ensures proper accounting while respecting GST norms for exempt goods.
