Educational video for children to learn about the main differences between autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms. Thanks to the function of nutrition, living beings get the energy they need to carry out everyday activities like moving, walking or even thinking. But... where do we get all this energy from? From food! In other words, from what we eat. Based on their type of nutrition, living beings are divided into two main groups: autotrophic organisms and heterotrophic organisms.

"Auto" means "self" and "trophic" means "nourishing". This explains the fact that autotrophs make their own food in order to get the energy they need for everyday activities. The word heterotrophic also has a distinct definition. "Hetero" means "other" and "trophic" means "nourishing". This explains that heterotrophs cannot make their own food; they must eat to obtain energy and survive, meaning they consume food from an outside source. This video is an excellent resource for Science class in elementary school.
