JACKIE ROBINSON TRIBUTE BUS 1947 FLXIBLE CLIPPER

Описание к видео JACKIE ROBINSON TRIBUTE BUS 1947 FLXIBLE CLIPPER

This is the Anderson Monarchs Baseball Club's team bus. They are a youth team from the Marian Anderson Rec Center in Philadelphia. I found it in 1997 from a 3 year old Hemmings Motor News ad. It had been parked in a 150 year old barn in CT for 24 years. The shape of this bus has aviation influences and is a Clipper model. Unlike the Clipper aircraft this one is in current use having travelled 4,000 miles in 23 days this past June/July 2015 with a newly installed Allison 1000 6 speed automatic transmission. We used this bus first in 1997 on a Baseball Barnstorming Tour to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson signing with Major League Baseball. The Monarchs Barnstorm in tribute to Jackie, The Negro Leagues and the Civil Rights Movement. Our plan is a repower with a 21st Century 8.8 L GMC Big Block Chevy engine. Current GMC V6 401M engine has almost 500k on it. Want to keep this bus in unrestored condition aside from the driveline and Barnstorm for as long as there are roads, kids and Baseball. Typical daily mileage is 250-350 miles. On July 1, 2016 we travelled from Myrtle Beach, SC back to Phila--625 miles--our biggest single day travel. Thanks for looking.
