Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announces his decision regarding the possible resentencing of Erik and Lyle Menendez.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles are reviewing a notorious case of two brothers who killed their parents in their Beverly Hills mansion in 1989, days after a show about the murders shot to the top of the Netflix streaming rankings.

Jose Menendez, a wealthy entertainment executive, and his wife, Kitty, were shot dead at close range in their living room, leading to a series of trials that gripped America shortly before the even more lurid OJ Simpson trial eclipsed it in the public imagination.

The Menendez’s sons Erik, 18, and Lyle, 21, had initially called police in tears, claiming to have discovered the bodies. However, after they spent about $700,000 in the following six months on shopping, tennis lessons and real estate, they were charged with the murders.
