Greg Gomes retiring from the North Charleston Police Department after one year as chief

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Greg Gomes, the chief of the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD), is retiring from law enforcement.

Gomes announced his pending departure from the department on April 19. His retirement will be effective on June 30.

A 30-year law enforcement veteran, Gomes has spent his entire career with the NCPD. He was named police chief last April to succeed Reggie Burgess, the current mayor.
