Located between the Okaloosa Island fishing pier and the Gulfarium is Anglers Beachside Bar and Grill. Anglers is probably best know by locals for its close proximity to the pier and its upstairs NFL and college football sports bar, however the beach side breakfast is becoming increasingly popular.

It is important to note that my research has indicated that the Okaloosa Fishing Pier and Anglers are not affiliated however I will put additional information about the pier at the bottom.

I have been a customer at Anglers for quite a few years now and unfortunately I have to say that for me Anglers has been in a bit of a decline. Not sure exactly what has changed but the food does not seem as good, the menu has changed and the facilities are in a bit of decay.

The beach area, which is situated between the pier and the chain link fence of the Gulfarium, gives the area a bit of an "under an overpass" industrial area feel in my opinion, and much of the playground is nothing more than what looks like big boxes of hollow plastic.

The front of the building has almost become a dump ground as they have placed an old junker wooden boat which I assume they think makes for a good photo opportunity for out of towners. In my opinion, a bit of an eyesore and no doubt the cause of more than one tetanus shot.

On this day, the restaurant was very slow and we were very surprised at how filthy the outside seating area was. I have to say it was extremely disgusting. It was obvious I was sitting where a child, perhaps a toddler had just sat as there was an ocean of ketchup, soggy crushed french fries and crumbled crayons all over the floor, so much so that I did not have a choice but to sit in it. I totally understand that situation on an extremely busy night however when there are 15+ other empty tables and multiple employees just standing around killing time, surely that could have been handled better. Sit us at a clean table at least!

The inside eating and bar areas are kept very clean and well organized. We had a lovely conversation with the bartender who went out of her way to make sure we understood the drinks and got exactly what we wanted.

The bar area opens up to the pier and once you are on the pier the views are incredible and if you happen to be there as the sunsets, walking out to watch is a must!

With all this said, good or bad I must say that eating at Anglers is a far better experience than any chain restaurant any day of the week!

The restaurant does offer military, local, and first responder discounts!

TOTAL SCORE 41 OUT OF 60 POINTS. In high school Anglers would have received a 68%. That's a D! Maybe clean up a little and bring back the Italian Sandwich already! .(Or Sicilian, whatever it was called)
