Construction of Kenyan Topbars Beehives

Beekeeping is the care and management of honey bees for the production of honey and wax. In this method, bees are bred commercially in apiaries, an area where a lot of beehives can be placed. Beehives are used to keep bess. There are several beehives, notably among them is the Langstroth and the Kenyan topbar hives.

The Kenyan Top Bar Hive is considered as one of the most effective natural bee hives for backyard and small-scale beekeepers. The Kenyan top-bar hive was developed by Dr. Maurice V. Smith and Dr. Gordon Townsend from the University of Guelph in Canada, sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) under an initial four year overseas project which began in Kenya in 1971 even though beekeeping already existed in that region.
