In my last video, one of my viewers who goes by the name of FerretBomb turned me onto a video discussing soft skin filters on the Sony A5100. Original video below:

I wanted to test this out and see the effects of it when using a camera as a webcam, as well as testing it with power zoom lenses - because as I confirmed, the trick covered in this video is a bit tricky with a power zoom lens.

To confirm what the notes in my video say - this trick CAN work for powerzoom lenses LIKE the kit lens that comes with the A5100 and A6000 - HOWEVER, you HAVE to be zoomed in all the way in order to do it. So if you're using non-power zoom lenses, whatever focal length you're currently using on your lens is compatible with this trick, whereas the kit lens, you would need to be zoomed in all the way, which for most people would mean repositioning your camera to support this extreme zoom. But it IS possible with this method - but it's up to you whether you would change your webcam placement for this, or if you're OK with leaving the soft skin filter on.
