Trigger IP Camera Alarm Relay via Mobile App, Web Browser, Developer API

You can trigger the alarm relay on Viewtron IP cameras from the mobile app, web browser, and via the developer API. All of the Viewtron IP cameras on this page have an alarm terminal block with an alarm input and alarm output port.

The alarm output is a dry contact, which means that it simply opens or closes based on the alarm state. When you connect the power supply of an external alarm sensor to the relay, you can remotely turn the alarm sensor on from your IP camera. For example, you can connect an alarm light or audio alarm siren to the relay. The alarm relay can be triggered (closed so that the alarm device gets power) in the following ways.

1) AI Object Detection. Viewtron AI security cameras support human detection and vehicle detection. You may configure your camera to trigger the alarm output when a person or vehicle is detected in a certain area. You can learn more about Viewtron AI cameras here. 2) Trigger from Mobile App. Viewtron IP cameras include a free mobile app for iPhone and Android. You can turn the alarm relay on / off (close / open) by tapping a button in the app. The alarm relay output can be triggered if you camera is connected to a Viewtron NVR or installed as a stand alone device. 4) Trigger from NVR. If you connect your Viewtron IP camera to a Viewtron DVR / NVR, you may trigger the alarm output on the IP camera from the DVR / NVR using the attached USB mouse.

5) Software Development API. Viewtron IP cameras have a API for software developers to integrate with 3rd party systems and create their own applications. CCTV Camera Pros has this Python script available to download on Github. It is the app that was used in this video demo.

Please note, although Mike used Python to interact with the Viewtron IP camera API, software developers can use any programming language. This is because the API is based on HTTP and XML. It supports C#, Java, Swift, Objective C, Perl, C++ and any other language a developer wants to us.
