Mahindra TUV300 - Legendary Toughness Comes Affordably

The Mahindra brand name in South Africa has gained popularity in leaps and bounds in recent years. In 2016 alone Mahindra SA sold over 3500 vehicles and I think this is testament to the brand's commitment to building affordable vehicles which offer a wealth of standard creature comforts.

Having recently driven the Mahindra KUV100, We were extremely excited to get behind the wheel of the all-new TUV300 and find out what this compact family SUV has to offer.

With a body designed around a battle tank, the TUV300 offers a bold squared jawline and high roofline. The theme of solidity is continued throughout the body, and evident by the TUV300's rugged nudge bar located in front of the vertical slatted grill.

Owing to the high roofline, the TUV300 enjoys the benefit of an extremely spacious and air-filled cabin. Seating is comfortable with the ability to seat 5+2. While the rear +2 seats are small, they do provide great extra capacity for those smaller occupants and can be stowed to maximise boot capacity which comes in at a decent 384 litres (Expandable to 720 litres with the seats dropped).

The TUV300 K8 is powered by Mahindra's own in-house developed mHawk100 motor. The engine delivers 74 kW of power at 3750 r/min and an impressive 240 Nm or torque. The motor is also the world's first dual-stage turbocharged 1.5-litre engine.

With a similar media interface as standard to that of the one in the KUV100. It is a simple monochromatic display which is a breeze to operate and offers media deliverable through the likes of a USB media drive and even Bluetooth mobile phone compatibility. The steering wheel features multi-function controls for audio and has a pleasant chunky design.

Much like the KUV100, Mahindra's all new TUV300 provides affordability with a wealth of standard features and an overall rugged and impressive package at an affordable price.
