Cyclone Nivar Updates: Rainfall is said to continue in some areas of Northern Tamilnadu. The wind speed was higher in the northeast sector therefore the northeast sector from Puducherry has higher winds of 100-110 kmph. 

It is gradually expected to decrease to 65-75 kmph during the next 03 hours with the further northwestward movement of the system over land. In Puducherry waterlogging is observed in several areas. The rescue team was at work since early morning and fallen trees and debris were removed. However, removing water was a challenge to the officials.

Puducherry CM Narayanasamy stated that the damage assessment report will be collected shortly which would also include crop damage. Chennai similarly saw water logging in various areas due to heavy rain.

However, extreme waterlogging was observed at Mudichoor, Varadgarajapuram near Tambaram as water from Chembarambakkam water reservoir was released.

9000 cusecs of water were released to maintain inflow into the reservoir which has been reduced to 1000 cusecs by 26th November morning. 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami is expected to visit Cuddalore to assess the damage.

Several rescue teams are at work on the ground, clearing fallen trees and debris.
